High Leak Session Message on Resmed Elite II

by Elite

Following message appeared on my Elite II machine : "High leak in last session".

Does that mean the machine is disfunctional?

Answer

The ResMed Elite manual says it's possible you have experienced excessive high leak levels during sleep.

The manual recommends to check that your air tubing is properly connected to your CPAP machine and mask, and to also check that your mask doesn't have high leaks.

The leak alert can be enabled or disabled from the menu of your machine. If the leak alert feature is enabled, any leak greater that 0.7 l/s for more than 20 seconds is interpreted as a high leak event and the high leak message will appear on the LCD of your CPAP machine.

The message High leak in last session on the LCD will appear if the leak continues for more than 30% of the last session with 0,4 l/s.

The first step is to check if you have leaks from your cpap mask. If you have a nasal mask or nasal pillow, chances are that you sleep with your mouth open.

If you fixed everything, then the next step is to contact your clinician to help you fix the problem.

I hope it helps. Don't be afraid to comment back.

Hey everyone.. writing from the couch after awakening from a bad episode.. been on cpap for 2years.. noticed this warning and have been putting it off due to low funds.. guess I can't put it off anymore... waiting for the sun to come up so I can go get new parts.. for my situation there were tears along the hosing which was causing a drop in pressure.. don't sacrifice your health people.. get this looked into...
